Monday Mural

I am not joining Monday Mural as it not going to be Monday focus for long, but do check out Perth Daily Photo and Colourful World, both in Perth, as they often have a Monday Mural.

If you travel on Melbourne trains between South Yarra and Richmond Stations, and unless you eyes are permanently fixed on your phone or you always sit backwards, you cannot have helped but notice this mural.

I will get off the train and take a closer look. Ah, ok, now I get it. What? You don't get it? Well, if you can't appreciate the message in a good mural, bad luck.

In other mural news, remember I posted a photo of this mural, in Queensway, St Kilda. It became so badly graffitied, sadly it has now been painted over white, which was also quickly graffitied.

  2. What is that space between South Yarra and Richmond railway stations? I can see the mural behind chairs, greenery, small trees and a car.

    1. Hels, it is a business of some kind. I assume the chairs etc are for staff, as it behind a wire fence. Hop off the 3 at Balaclava Station and catch the train to see for yourself.

  4. I am a big fan of murals (and public art more generally). Sigh on the grafitti front.

    1. EC, there was once honour among thieves, murals were never graffitied. Times have changed.

  5. There are no murals here on the mountain, and, thankfully, I've never seen any evidence of graffiti. I hope I've not spoken too soon, re the graffiti!

  7. Not the best I've seen, but I quite like the later additions. There is a statue of 'Venus' in a town near us, that often receives a sprayed bra and pants, which always makes me laugh.

    2. Hels, it does have to be said with a certain intonation.

River, I don't get it either. Some things in life we are not meant to understand.

    1. Gattina, I know graffiti is very bad in much of Europe. It is horrible coming into Paris from London.

  10. Sadly... I think it encourages graffiti.

    1. Sandra, I think Grace above is quite right, but what is the message? I don't have a clue and I doubt anyone else does unless it is explained to them.

  13. What a threesome. Rather racy for a public mural, would be loudly protested here by the ultra conservative crowd, who also at the same time are addicted to the Kardashians.

    1. Strayer, sometimes we protest about such things, but they have to be a bit more extreme than this. Yes, the contradiction about conservative values and what people actually do and watch in their real lives is amazing.

  14. I only noticed the mural recently, which means I've either been sitting on the wrong side of the train most days or (shock horror) I've been too fixated on my mobile.

    1. Ad Rad, the mural is big enough to be seen from either side of the train. You are staring at your screen.
