The Bank

R: You know how my bank card won't work for tap and go. I've ordered a new one.

Me: Good. You are trying to go cashless, but how can you when your card won't work properly.

R: But they have cancelled my old card.

Me: I am sure you have another card to use.

R: I don't know that I do.

Me: My interest rates are very reasonable.

  4. I actually don't like the tap and go system, I find it unsafe, so I make a point of using my pin.

    1. Sami, I have been using it for a long time and never had any problem, aside from the odd times it doesn't work and I have to swipe or insert.

  5. I'm with Sami - the tap & go system is too easily scanned and scammed, prefer the pin way.
    LOL @ your interest rates.

I always carry some cash on me, just in case. Like the banks' ATMs going off line. So I can still pay without embarrassment and frustration. - Ian

  7. Let's hope the card turns up pretty soon. It's a pain in the neck to say the least when you don't have any cash. I got caught on Thursday when we travelled northward and bought lunch, no cash did I have, NO EFTPOS at the shop and not another food shop - oh dear, had to go to bank to get cash, thank goodness I didn't have to go far.

    1. Margaret, it is only the very smallest of places now that don't have EFTPOS. They will soon be losing business if there is an alternative. There is some talk of whole shoppings centres going cashless.

  8. R needs to go to his bank and kick up a stink about the old card being cancelled too soon.
I don't like the tap and go system, too easy for a thief who has your card to tap and go all over the city and run your bank account dry in the time it takes you to realise your card is stolen. I'm a cash girl, using a card only when I have purchased something and don't have enough cash in my purse, which is a rare thing to happen.
